Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Colombo - Drive to Kandy

Once you arrive in Sri Lanka, you will have to collect your luggage, clear customs and come to a public arrival lounge, where you will meet your chauffeur guide holding a signboard with your name on it. If you can’t locate your chauffeur guide and the local ground handling agent will assist you.

Drive to Kandy. (approx.: 03hrs.) and check-in to the hotel.

Early Morning Visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic.

The Temple of the Sacred Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) was originally built by the Kandyan Kings in 1595, to house and honor the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha. Attracting crowds of white-clad pilgrims bearing lotus flowers for means of worship, the Maligawa features a myriad of intricate carvings that speak volumes of the architectural values of Kandy. Today the City of Kandy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in part because of the Temple of the tooth relic.

Continue towards Nuwara Eliya. (approx. :3hrs.)

En-route visit a Tea Factory to learn the Ceylon tea process.

Learn about tea production in Sri Lanka by visiting a tea plantation and factory. You’ll start in the fields, where tea is cultivated, and then head to the factory to see the process of withering, rolling, oxidizing, and drying the leaves. These steps require both heavy machinery and skilled workers. The factory often uses old machines that have been around since before the industrial revolution. At the end of the tour, you’ll usually have a chance to taste the tea.

Afterwards, witness Ramboda Waterfalls, it is 109 m (358 ft) high and 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 729th highest waterfall in the world. It is situated in the Pussellawa area, on the A5 highway at Ramboda Pass. It is formed by Panna Oya which is a tributary of Kothmale Oya. The altitude of the falls is 945 m (3,100 ft) above sea level.

Proceed to Nuwara Eliya and do the Nuwara Eliya city Tour with Gregory Lake.

Nuwara Eliya has the coolest climate in Sri Lanka and it’s called Little England. Visit the highland city that was the premium holiday resort town of the British in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Enjoy walking through the streets with their pretty little cottages, quaint villas and beautiful mansions. Make a memory in the old red bricked post office as you purchase a postcard to take home or send to your friends. Relax on the shores of Lake Gregory.

After completing the day excursion, proceed to Bandarawela and check in to the hotel.

Drive to Bandarawela Railway Station to catch the train to Demodara, which departs at 11:00 AM. (Seats on availability).

You can take a scenic train ride up to the hill country of Sri Lanka through the Tea Gardens, Water Falls and magnificent vegetable farms.

Upon arrival at Demodara Railway Station, our chauffeur guide will meet you and continue the journey. During your time in Ella this evening, explore the amazing Little Adam’s peak which is a 30 min hike and then descend to Nine Arch Bridge.

Little Adams Peak, considering the word ‘Little’, is named after the sacred Adams Peak (Sri Pada where the foot print of Lord Buddha is preserved) regarding the similarity between the two mountains. Therefore, the mountain was called Little Adams Peak. “Punchi SriPada” is another name for this peak. It is 1141 m in height. Little Adam’s Peak attracts many travelers who come to Sri Lanka.

Visit the Nine Arch Bridge. This is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. The construction of the bridge is generally attributed to a local Ceylonese builder, P. K. Appuhami, in consultation with British engineers. The chief designer and project manager of the ‘upcountry railway line of Ceylon’ project was D. J. Wimalasurendra, a distinguished Ceylonese engineer and inventor.

Later in the evening, Drive back to the Hotel.

En-route Visit the Coconut Tree Hills in Mirissa. It is a stunning natural landmark known for its picturesque views of the Indian Ocean. This small hill, lined with tall coconut trees, offers a perfect spot for photography and relaxation. The location is famous for its serene atmosphere and breathtaking sunsets, making it a popular destination for travelers seeking tranquility and scenic beauty. The sight of the swaying coconut trees against the backdrop of the turquoise waters creates a uniquely serene and tropical experience.

Afterwards, Visit the Dutch Fort in Galle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a well-preserved 17th-century fortress. Built by the Portuguese and fortified by the Dutch, it showcases a blend of European and South Asian architecture. The fort features cobblestone streets, colonial buildings, and landmarks like the Galle Lighthouse and Dutch Reformed Church. Today, it’s a lively area with cafes, boutiques, and stunning ocean views.

Today you could drive to Balapitiya and enjoy the Madu River Boat Safari.

Traverse the dark and dangerous caverns formed by the thick mangrove forests; interspersed with bright open stretches of water. Learn more about mangroves and their positive effect on ecology. Get a chance to see crocodiles, water snakes, tree snakes and wild boars in their natural habitat. Watch the cormorants, storks and many other avian life hunts for their prey in the swift flow of Madu River. Visit the old Buddhist temple on one of the islands that dot the river liberally. Stop by another of the islands; which are the source of the cinnamon industry of Sri Lanka.

Upon arrival, check in to the hotel.

In the evening, enjoy the city tour in Colombo with Shopping. (Including: Galle Face Green, the Pettah Market, Old Parliament, Independence Memorial Arcade & Independence Square, Beire Lake, Gangaramaya Temple, ODEL shopping, Cinnamon gardens, Shopping at Laksala state owned Handicrafts emporium, Lighthouse and Clock tower & Colombo Harbor only) (Except the Lotus Tower) Check-in to the hotel and relax.

Early morning drops off at the airport for the departure flight.
